ST. CLOUD -- Mass of Christian Burial will be 1 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 1, 2003, at the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Cloud for Robert N. Waudby, age 81, of Merrifield, and formerly of Richfield, who died Thursday, Aug. 28, 2003, at St. Benedict's Senior Community in St. Cloud. Inurnment will take place in Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis with full military honors. Friends may call after noon on Monday at the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Cloud.
Robert was born Feb. 21, 1922, in Greene, Iowa, to Lawrence and Mabel (Brooke) Waudby. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He married Madeleine "Sue" Reiner on July 19, 1943, in Comfrey, Minn., and they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this summer with their family. He worked as a meat cutter in the metro area for many years and later worked for the Independent School District 281 before retiring in 1982 to Merrifield.
Surviving Robert is his loving wife, daughters Karen (Jim) Westberg, Sheryl (Mike) Berdahl and Mary Catherine Thein and son Robert William (Gale) Waudby, his 13 grandchildren: Kris, Marc, Michael, David, Mathew, Meghan, Andrew, Zachary, Teresa, D.J., Jeremy, Melissa and Andrea, five great-grandchildren; and his sister Margaret Baldwin.
Preceding him in death are his parents, brothers Larry, Tom and infant twin brother Roger, and sisters Doris, Ruth and Betty.
Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers to the American Cancer Society.
