EDEN PRAIRIE (AP) -- Moe Williams has missed three important weeks in his bid to replace Robert Smith as the Minnesota Vikings' running back, but he said it is important not to try to make them up in one game.
Williams will make his season debut as the Vikings' third back in an exhibition game Friday night against the Miami Dolphins.
TRANSACTIONS: The Vikings claimed linebacker Rahim Abdullah from the Cleveland Browns after releasing former University of Minnesota defensive end Lamanzer Williams. Abdullah, who is 6-foot-5 and weighs 251 pounds, started 17 of 29 games in two seasons with the Browns. He was selected in the second round of the 1999 draft and had 90 tackles as a rookie.
EXTRA POINTS: Randy Moss will appeal a $5,000 fine by the NFL because he wore two caps that did not carry the league's Reebok log. Moss has a contract with Nike.
