In his latest adventure to raise funds for Kinship Partners, Gary Walters and his son, Jackson, are Rollerblading to Washington, D.C.
Check out his progress through Friday: Ohio provided friendly people and smooth road surfaces. When the Walters stopped by the roadside to rest, cars routinely stopped to see if everything was all right. A local store owner who sold them lunch makings but didn't have plastic knives actually ran home to get them plastic cutlery.
Miles traveled: Thursday 37 miles.
Total miles traveled: 714 miles.
Total funds raised: $8,955.
Daily destination reached: Thursday ended west of Upper Sandusky, Ohio.
Mile musings: "As a guy who cycled through the Deep South and let me tell you the people of the Deep South are some of the nicest in America, these people in Ohio are in a very similar class.
Today a couple talked with Lisa and informed her they saw the NBC Lima broadcast and made a donation to mentoring. ... Near the end of the day we took a little detour into the town of Ada, Ohio.
Here we met Kimberly Broekemeier. She is a graduate of Brainerd High School.
