DETROIT LAKES - Hallie Denning's win at No. 3 singles broke a 3-3 deadlock and helped the Staples-Motley Cardinals defeat Moorhead 4-3 on Tuesday. The Cardinals also defeated Detroit Lakes 4-3.

Patriots win two of three

PARK RAPIDS - The Pequot Lakes Patriots finished 2-1 in a quadrangular at Park Rapids Tuesday.

The Patriots defeated Long Prairie 4-3 and conference foe Park Rapids 5-2. The team's only loss of the quadrangular was 6-1 to Crookston.

Pequot's No. 1 doubles team of Kirstie Harmdierks-Cori Lundmark finished 2-0 in their two matches together.
