With school starting again Kinship Partners starts getting busy with new referrals from the schools. Gary Walters, being on the water tower, got a lot of attention for Kinship Partners and was very successful in recruiting new adult partners. The news coverage also sparked some parents into thinking this would be a good program for their son or daughter, so we still have a great need for adults who would like to spend some time with a child in need.
In the Emily area there is a young girl named Mariah who is going into third grade who needs a partner. Mariah had a partner who recently moved away and she is now waiting again. She is a bright, outgoing girl who loves to do art things and to bake. Mariah lives in a rural area and transportation is an issue so she doesn't get out much. She would really like to get a partner soon so she can spend some one on one time with a new partner.
In the Crosby/Deerwood area there are five boys and three girls waiting for partners. The boys range in age from 8 to 14 and the girls ages are 12 to 14. They all live in single parent households and with the parents working full time and other children in the home there is not much time for individual attention. In Brainerd we have 37 kids waiting who range in age from 5 to 14 years. In the Pequot Lakes/Pine River area we have 13 children on our waiting list.
If you live in these areas and are interested in helping a child please call Kinship Partners today at 1 (877) 730-5437 or in Brainerd call 829-4606 and in Pequot Lakes call 568-4015.
