Lew Hudson of Baxter this morning filed for re-election to the Brainerd School Board.
Hudson currently is the school board chairman. His term expires at the end of this year. He has been on the school board for two terms and is a longtime school volunteer.
Hudson said it is an exciting time to serve on the board. He said the district is committed to curriculum that is driven by measurable standards taught by teachers committed to their students and supported by a board that values education excellence and fiscal discipline.
The long-range comprehensive plan the board has been working on for three years is another reason why Hudson decided to run.
"I look forward to the opportunity to participate in the summation process as we consider our present system and what the people of the district want it to become," said Hudson.
Hudson pledged to bring to the board table mature judgment, sound fiscal management and a lifetime commitment to educational excellence.
"What we do we do for the kids," he said. "Someone did it for us along time ago and we can and will do it as a legacy to them.
"If re-elected that is my pledge."
