BACKUS - Fay Bratt, age 89, of Backus, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2009. She was born to Henry and Crystal Logee on their wedding anniversary Oct. 19, 1919, in Backus. When she was very young, the family moved to Superior, Wis., where she lived until eloping with her college classmate, Ray Bratt, and moved to Chicago where they lived for 42 years. They had two sons, Gregg and Bruce.
Fay worked for Federal Life Insurance Co. for 30 years and was manager of claims. After retiring, she and Ray moved to Backus and built their retirement home next to her sister, Pat. Ray died in 1993 after 54 years of marriage. Four years later, Fay was united with her high school friend, Wilson Landrum, and they spent the next four years traveling and playing golf until his death. Fay loved her extended family and many friends.
She is survived by her son, Bruce (Kathy); sisters, Pat Lahti (Bob), Deloris Guist, Crystal Cordts (Carl); sister-in-law, Pat Logee; and many dear nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray; son, Gregg; sister, Phyllis Kimball; brother, Henry Logee; extended family, Roger Lahti, Sue Cordts; and dear friend, Wilson Landrum.
Visitation will be Friday, Aug. 28, from 5-7 p.m. at Kline Funeral Home, Pine River. A private family service will be held.
