Brainerd City Council member Deb Olander has announced she won't seek another term on the city council.
Olander, who has served the city council as the Ward 4 representative since 1996, said in an e-mail Monday: "After serious consideration, I have decided not to run for re-election this fall. I have appreciated the opportunity to serve the people in southeast Brainerd, and giving voice to others on various issues, over the past six years.
"I look forward to enjoying the last four years of my youngest at home before graduation, continuing my business as a massage therapist, and remaining active in the community in a variety of ways."
Olander said she is endorsing Anne Nelson Fisher for the Ward 4 seat.
Brainerd City Council member Mark O'Day, though making no formal announcement, also has said at several Brainerd City Council meetings that he won't seek another term.
