GARRISON -- Buck Thompson, 76, Garrison, died Friday, Aug. 24, 2001, in Branson, Mo., while attending his Army reunion.
He was born Feb. 8, 1925, in Garrison to Clifton and Naomi (Dikie) Thompson. He was a World War II Army veteran with the 117th Airborn Division in the Battle of the Bulge in the Ardennes. He was a retired bartender at Murray's Restaurant in Minneapolis, retiring in 1991. He was a member of Garrison VFW Post 1816 and the Aitkin American Legion, Lee Post 86 and Moose Lodge in Aitkin.
Survivors include his former wife, Carol Thompson, Columbia Heights; two daughters, Sandra Remes, Minnetonka, and Dianna Gripp, St. Paul; a stepdaughter, Delores Henry, Laguna Hills, Calif.; a stepson, John Luhman, Minneapolis; a brother, Bob Thompson, Garrison; three sisters, Cleo Peterson, St. Anthony, Ruth Hamilton, Deerwood, and Carol Nickaboine, Aitkin; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Light of the Cross Lutheran Church in Garrison with the Rev. Jim Swanson officiating. Burial will be in the Garrison Community Cemetery with full military rites by VFW Post 1816.
Friends may call one hour before services Wednesday at the church.
