Lois E. Wheeler

MESA, Ariz. - Lois Elaine Wheeler, 85, of Mesa, Ariz., passed away Monday, Aug. 17, 2009, in Mesa. She was born April 13, 1924, in Brainerd, Minn. On Sept. 11, 1946, she married Mervin C. Wheeler. They were happily married with three loving children. Merv passed away in 1974. She was a widow for 19 years until she met Ernie Switzer in 1993 and they became lifetime companions until his passing in 2005.

Lois is survived by her three loving children, Linda Croke, William (Bill) Wheeler and Liana Bruno; six grandchildren; three great-grandsons; also one brother, Mel Maust; and two sisters, Molly Grant and Mabel Jarboe; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by two sisters, Jayne Maier and Doris May Johnson; and two grandsons.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, Aug. 29, 2009, at 11 a.m. at Mariposa Gardens Cemetery Chapel, 6747 E. Broadway Road, Mesa, AZ 85206. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. Saturday until the hour of service at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers the family is requesting contributions in Lois' name to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 5377, Phoenix, AZ 85020-5377, to the Make A Wish Foundation of America, 711 E. Northern Ave., Phoenix, AZ 85020 or Banner Hospice, 7231 E. Broadway Road, Mesa, AZ 85208.
