Bulldogs lose in state

COLD SPRING -- The Pierz Bulldogs were held without a hit and dropped to the losers bracket with a 6-3 loss to St. Patrick Sunday in the Class C State Amateur baseball tournament in Cold Spring.

Pierz scored its only runs in the third inning thanks to four walks, 1 error and a balk.

Bulldog starting pitcher Rick Sczublewski pitched five innings giving up three runs off of nine hits.

Winning pitcher Bill Dunker pitched a complete game allowing three unearned runs of no hits and five walks. He struck out nine.

Saturday's Game

Pierz Bulldogs 1, Litchfield 0

COLD SPRING -- Dave Rocheleau's base hit in the bottom of the ninth scored Dan Rocheleau from second base, propelling the Pierz Bulldogs to a dramatic 1-0 victory over Litchfield Saturday.

On the mound, Dan Rocheleau was dominant, handcuffing Litchfield in a complete game. He gave up six hits while striking out six with no walks. Bob Pohlkamp led Pierz at the plate by going 2-for-3.
