More Brainerd School District' students are rejoicing after passing the Minnesota Basic Standards Test in July.
Students were given the opportunity to retake the test after failing it earlier this year. There were 59 students, who passed this time. In the mathematics tests -- 14 eighth-graders, seven ninth-graders, eight 10th-graders and five juniors passed the test. In the reading testing scores -- 15 eighth-graders, two ninth-graders, three 10th-graders and five juniors passed.
More than 8,500 students in the state, who took the tests this summer, met the passing requirements.
Students who took the test over represent 40 percent of the 21,233, who took advantage of the opportunity to take the test, after extra work spent in summer school.
Scoring accuracy for the tests was carefully checked and no problems were found.
