Attendance exceeded 450 people at "A Sweet Surprise," the 36th annual flower show of the Nisswa Garden Club held Aug. 14 at the Nisswa school.

A group of citizens from Brainerd's southwest side will present a petition to the city council next Monday night asking that two school crossing signals be allowed to remain at least as flashing amber lights.
60 years ago (1944)
John Aiton, Brainerd, is the new district American Legion adjutant for the sixth district, it was reported today. Aiton is a member of the Brainerd post.
80 years ago (1924)
The flower show gave an opportunity for securing more memberships for the Crow Wing Garden Flower Society. Tourists from seven states visited the show and particularly raved about the dahlias grown here.
100 years ago (1904)
Brainerd is trying to get another game for next Sunday with a good fast aggregation. An announcement will be made before Saturday if a team is secured.
