With the end of summer already here and the kids heading back to school, the staff at Kinship Partners is preparing for our yearly increase in the number of children on our waiting list.
Once school starts and the kids are settled in for the year, we receive lots of new referrals from the schools for kids to be in our program. Unfortunately, we already have a number of children waiting and so our list just gets longer.
Kinship Partner matches young children with adult volunteers who provide a nurturing, positive influence in their lives. Our hope is to bring together friendships that will continue for many years. All of the children on our waiting list are eagerly waiting to be matched with a special adult.
A time commitment of two to three hours per week and a love and dedication to children is all that is needed to be an adult volunteer for Kinship Partners. Volunteers of all ages and interests are needed to match the children on our waiting list. Each child has a unique personality and situation and has a definite need for an adult partner.
Eight-year-old Jacob from Pequot Lakes is one of the children on our waiting list. He is an active little boy who likes to do just about anything. He likes to ride bike, swim and fish. One of the things he has never had the chance to try, but thinks would be a lot of fun is snowmobiling.
If you would like to learn more about Jacob or any of the other children on our waiting list, please call one of our area offices. In Brainerd call 829-4606, in Cuyuna Country call 546-7308 and in Lake Country call 568-4015.
Call today and become an adult volunteer for Kinship Partners, your offering of your time and friendship can make all the difference in the life of a child who is waiting for a partner.
