Many of us look forward to this time of the year. We give a sigh of relief that life will return to "normal." We can fall back into the comfortable, yet sometimes hectic, schedule that returning to school, pre-season football, and docking the boat bring. But there are kids in our neighborhoods that wish life wouldn't be as ordinary and hope a Kinship Partner would make this a school year to remember.
As you begin to plan your calendar for the upcoming busy months, think about how special it would be to share time with a child in need. Joey will be entering the third grade and lives in the Pequot Lakes School District. His counselor at school calls him a kind, well-mannered boy who is struggling with emotional issues. He is very good at communicating, but needs a patient partner who understands and accepts mental health issues and enjoys being outdoors. Joey spends a little too much time tuned into video games, but he has loads of fishing tackle, likes camping and zipping down water slides.
Mom says the perfect partner would be someone who likes to fish and fix things. Joey also likes horses, car racing and snowmobiles. He believes having a Kinship Partner would help him learn to feel good about himself.
Fall is all about change so please consider befriending Joey or another child on our waiting lists. It only takes a few hours each week to impact a young life. Call 829-4606 or toll free 877-730-5437 for more information. You may also check out our Web site at www.kinshippartners.org.
