A committee representing St. Francis Parish held a luncheon honoring Mrs. Alvin (Gert) Kampmann at Pauline's Aug. 20 to recognize her many years as organist in St. Francis Church and as a teacher in St. Francis School.

Pete Souba, Brainerd, shattered 200 straight targets Monday and another 200 straight Tuesday in the Grand American Trap Shooting Championship in Vandalia, Ohio.

The Brainerd Future Farmers of America chapter has been selected as the top Minnesota entry in the National FFA Chapter in Kansas City, Mo. in October. Edwin Gray is the chapter adviser.

80 years ago (1927)

N.E. Brainerd was defeated by Upsala 3 to 0 Sunday. The game was protested by N.E. on the grounds that Upsala used three illegal players with a paid battery from St. Cloud.

100 years ago (1907)
