Auditions for the Central Lakes College Theatre musical production of "Chicago" will be at 7 p.m. Sept. 4 in the Chalberg Theatre on the Brainerd campus.
The musical will be staged Oct. 17-27 and provide an opportunity for a wide range of performers from singers and dancers to jugglers and gymnasts. Director Dennis Lamberson said all who audition will learn, as a group, one song and one dance number from "Chicago."
Those auditioning should wear clothing and shoes that allow for a full range of movement. Performers should be at least 16 years old. There are singing and dancing roles for nine women and six men, with four non-singing men needed. Jugglers, gymnasts and bodybuilders also are needed.
The musical "Chicago" is based on the play of the same name by Maurine Dallas Watkins. The book is by Bob Fosse and Fred Ebb with music by John Kander and lyrics by Ebb.
Set in Prohibition-era Chicago, it is a satire on corruption in the administration of criminal justice and the concept of the "celebrity criminal."
