The Still Cruisin' Car Club of Staples is hosting their 12th annual car show, entitled "Ride the Dream," this Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Staples Elementary School.
"Ride the Dream" is part of Staples' "Railroad Days." There will also be the "Staples Annual Chili Cook Off" and the "Railroad Days Parade" during the day.
At "Ride the Dream," spectators can look at a wide range of cars, from early 1900s originals to modern Mustangs. The variety of vehicles includes muscle cars, street rods, motorcycles and custom cars.
The car show attracts car hobbyists from all over the Midwest, including the Twin Cities, North Dakota, South Dakota and Iowa.
Doug Case, president of Still Cruisin' Car Club, explained what made "Ride the Dream" unique.
"It's one of the largest car shows in northern Minnesota. This year we have a celebrity, Jessi Combs. She's on Spike's (a cable channel) Xtreme 4x4.'
"She's also appeared on the show Overhaulin.' She'll be there to sign autographs," Case said. "We're also giving away a running 350 Chevy engine, tires and other big prizes."
Case also mentioned that 100 trophies that will be given out to winners of various classes. They are each handcrafted into the shape of antique gas pumps.

Last year Case said that "Ride the Dream" had 315 vehicles and 3,000 spectators. He expects even a better turnout this year. There will be concessions on the grounds and a disc jockey who will be playing "cool, classic tunes."
For those who haven't pre-registered, car registration is $15 the day of the show, from 8 a.m. until noon. Spectator admission is $3 per person, with children under 10-years-old accompanied by an adult allowed in for free.
For those who register a vehicle for the car show, they are eligible for free nine holes of golf at The Vintage Golf Course at Staples. Show car participants must call the Vintage at (218) 894-9907 beforehand to schedule tee times.
Transportation from the car show will be provided to the Vintage and city-wide events.
There will also be a car pre-show Friday 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Nyhus Chevrolet in Staples. Car registration is free, and free food and soft drinks will be provided. In the evening from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. there will be a party at Twisted Sisters in Staples, with a $500 cash prize eligible for those who have a show car present.
"Between Ride the Dream' and the celebrations in Staples, it's going to be a fun weekend," Case said.
