DETROIT (AP) -- A jury found Jeffrey Gorton guilty of murder in the 1991 rape and slaying of a Northwest Airlines flight attendant.
A jury deliberated for less than two hours Thursday before convicting Gorton, 39, of first-degree murder, felony murder, criminal sexual conduct and larceny.
Gorton, of Genesee County's Vienna Township, was charged in the death of Nancy J. Ludwig, 41, of Minnetonka, Minn. The body of Ludwig, whose throat was slashed, was found Feb. 17, 1991, in a Romulus hotel near Detroit Metropolitan Airport.
Sentencing is scheduled for Sept. 19. He faces a mandatory sentence of life in prison without parole.
The case went unsolved until last year, when police say they were able to match Gorton's DNA with samples taken from Ludwig's body.
