Homebuyer workshop set in Aitkin

AITKIN -- Prospective homebuyers are the target audience for a three-part workshop designed to help participants learn the basics of home ownership.

Home Stretch, a joint effort of area lenders, real estate professionals and other housing professionals, will cover a variety of topics. Participants analyze housing needs, discuss how to obtain a mortgage loan, learn ways to budget and save for home ownership, and review home maintenance basics.

Participants also will receive a copy of their credit report, learn how to read the report and learn how to overcome any credit problems they may find and correct possible errors.

Classes are offered by the Central Minnesota Housing Partnership. Home Stretch will be offered Sept. 9, 16 and 23 at Aitkin High School. For more information, contact community education at (218) 927-2115.

Advice on log home projects to be given in Nisswa

NISSWA -- Mark Johnson, president of Terrasol Restoration and Renovation Co. of St. Peter, will be in Nisswa on Saturday to offer advice on log home projects.

As part of the Nisswa Area Historical Society's Pioneer Day, Johnson will show what has been done to restore the recently acquired log buildings in the Nisswa Pioneer Village Park.

The event will run 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday in Pioneer Park on Main Street in Nisswa.
