Gobblers blank Perham

CROSBY - Alice Browning didn't surrender a single game as she won her No. 2 singles match 6-0, 6-0 to help blank the Aitkin Gobblers over the Perham Yellowjackets 7-0 in a season-opening dual meet Tuesday.

Nicole Beneke also had little trouble at No. 3 singles, winning 6-1, 6-2 for the Gobblers.

PIERZ - The Pierz Pioneers girls' tennis team won three singles matches and two doubles matches to pick up a 5-2 win over the St. Cloud Apollo Eagles Tuesday.

Pierz's Cassie Banick won in straight sets at No. 4 singles while the No. 2 doubles team of Jenny Gritzmacher and Kara Kasper and the No. 3 team of Jayme Sczublewski and Erin Gritzmacher gave up just one set each in their wins.

PEQUOT LAKES - Angela Villella won handily at No. 2 singles as she beat St. Cloud Tech's Natasha Seliski 6-0, 6-1, but it was the Tigers who came away with the team victory, winning 5-2 over the Patriots in a non-conference tennis meet Tuesday.

The No. 1 Pequot Lakes doubles team of Kirstie Harmdierks and Cori Lundmark picked up the other Patriot victory, winning their match in three sets 6-3, 3-6, 6-4.
