PITTSBURGH -- Pittsburgh Penguins general manager Craig Patrick announced Wednesday that he has added Chuck Grillo of Minnesota Hockey Camps in Nisswa to the team's scouting staff.
Grillo has more than 16 years of NHL experience, most recently as executive vice president and director of player personnel for the San Jose Sharks from 1992-96. Before joining the Sharks, he served as director of pro scouting for the Minnesota North Stars. NHL players drafted during his tenure with the Stars include Derian Hatcher, Arturs Irbe and Roman Turek.
From 1980-88, Grillo was a scout with the New York Rangers, working with Penguins general manager Craig Patrick through 1986.
Grillo owns and operates the Minnesota Hockey Camps. Many athletes at the camp have gone on to become players, coaches and trainers in the NHL.
Grillo also spent 16 years as a high school hockey and baseball coach, taking teams to the Minnesota state tournament 11 times.
He and his wife Clairene have six children and nine grandchildren and live in Nisswa.
