3 easy steps to end fear of no loft

Tip from a pro

The biggest fear among golfers is getting the ball airborne. The more one tries to lift the ball off the ground, the less likely it is that the ball will take flight in the air.

Try my three-step approach to getting over the fear of no loft.

Step 1: Make a number of practice swings, trying to brush the top of the grass, exposing the dirt surface. A real key to a better swing is to focus on making contact with the ground in the same spot every time.

Step 2: Put 10 tees in a row and push them half way into the turf. Now swing down the row of tees and try to knock each tee out of the ground. When you can consistently make all the tees fly up into the air, put a ball on each of the 10 tees and continue to make the tees fly out of the ground.

Step 3: Don't think about the ball. Only think about making the tees fly out of the turf. You'll have discovered the secret to getting the ball in the air by not lifting it.
