Mary Louise Leyk, age 50, of Ironton, died on Thursday, Aug. 19, 2004, at her home. She was born on Oct. 17, 1953, in Boston, Mass., to Alfred and Philomena (Nardone) Brackett. She was a U.S. Army veteran. She married Alvin LeRoy Leyk on Nov. 23, 1974 in Augusta, Ga. She is a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Crosby, and its Priscilla Circle and a Vacation Bible School volunteer.
She is survived by her husband, Alvin; one son, Jason (Erin Buttner) Leyk of Littleport England; one daughter and son-in-law, Amanda and Ace Slepica of Tokyo, Japan; her mother, Philomena Brackett of Crosby; three brothers, Harold (Victoria) Brackett of Blackburg, Va., Alfred Jr. (Diane) Brackett of Garden Grove, Calif., George Brackett of Whittier, Calif.; one sister, Grace (William) Leyk of Crosby.
Funeral services will be 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday at the Immanual Lutheran Church in Crosby. Burial will be at the Minnesota State Veteran Cemetery in Little Falls with military honors given by the Myrin-James American Legion Post 443 of Ironton.
Friends may call on Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Koop Funeral Home and one hour prior to the services at the church on Tuesday.
