The Coalition for Responsible Development and the Perch Lake Association, along with their supporters, presented convincing justification to the Baxter City Council to require an environmental impact statement before Wal-Mart builds their superstore. The CRD and the PLA were not the losers on Tuesday night. The losers were the Baxter City Council members. At first they had such doubt they could not get a second to the motion and the chair had to second it. What a display of doubt and ignorance. The Baxter staff rules the council. It was a sorry sight to behold.
I think it's very ironic that Bob Olson, who's already (been) in the bar business himself, has anything whatsoever to say about how someone else runs their bar, what time they open or close.
