Wheels of Justice Bus Tour to visit Brainerd Friday

Posted: Thursday, August 21, 2003

The Brainerd Area Coalition for Peace will host the Wheels of Justice Bus Tour Friday, including a march and potluck dinner.

The tour brings eyewitness accounts from Iraq and Palestine to challenge and educate Americans about the repercussions of war and occupation, both on people abroad and Americans at home, organizers said.

Participants in the bus tour are traveling around the country in a school bus to share their experiences.

Following a lunch and presentation at the Franciscan Sisters of Little Falls convent, the tour will arrive at approximately 3 p.m. Friday in downtown Brainerd.

Tour members will be available for interviews and photographs. The Brainerd Coalition for Peace will hold a procession to dramatize the human consequences of war and occupation, using puppet-like costumes of mourning Iraqi women and replica coffins.

Participants in the parade will assemble at 4:45 p.m. Friday at the corner of Washington and Sixth streets.

At 6 p.m. a potluck dinner will be held at the Lakes Area Senior Activity Center, 803 Kingwood St. The public is invited. Dinner will be followed by a 7 p.m. program, which includes a slide show, speeches by tour participants and a question-and-answer period.
