Leonard W. Bade, 76, Brainerd, died Monday, Aug. 19, 2002, at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.
He was born May 20, 1926, in Leigh, Neb., to Henry and Minnie (Abels) Bade. He served in the Navy from January 1944 to May 1946. He married Evelyn Hultberg on June 4, 1948, in Moose Lake. He lived in Leigh and Scribner, Neb., and Moose Lake, Cloquet and Carlton. He moved to Brainerd in 1963. He was employed for 35 years at Potlatch as a papermaker, retiring as coating department manager. He worked as a small engine mechanic after completing the two-year small engine course at Brainerd Vocational Technical College. He was a member of First Lutheran Church and the American Legion.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Brian Bade, Merrifield, Michael Bade, Woodville, Wis., and John Bade, Northfield; a daughter, Barb Lindgron, Brainerd; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Henrietta Hanson, Moose Lake, and Margaret Randall, Portland, Ore.
Five brothers, Earl, Melvin, Clarence, Carl and an infant brother, and an infant sister, died earlier.
Services will be 1 p.m. Friday at First Lutheran Church in Brainerd with Pastor Andrew Smith officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery with military honors provided by American Legion Post No. 255 Color Guard. Memorials are preferred to First Lutheran Church.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at Nelson-Doran Funeral Home in Brainerd and an hour before services Friday at the church.
