Soap Box Derby scheduled Saturday at the civic center

The third Brainerd Lakes Downhill Drags Soap Box Derby race of the season will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Brainerd Area Civic Center parking lot.

Age categories are: Class A, age 6; Class B, ages 7-8; Class C, ages 9-10; and Class D, ages 11-up.

Any child wishing to race one of the loaner cars may call the Brainerd Parks and Recreation Department (218) 828-2320 before Friday. Children will be assigned to a car at the race.

New racers must be at the civic center race track at 8:30 a.m. and take two practice runs off the starting gate. We want to make sure racers get the feel of the starting gate and can drive the car before race time. All racers must be at least 6 years old.

All participants must be pre-registered and pre-paid by noon Friday. There is a registration fee of $5 for each participant.
