Halverson Law leads men's league at Legacy Courses

Halverson Law dismantled Bremer Bank 34-10 Aug. 14 to claim the lead in the men's league standings at the Legacy Courses at Cragun's.

Close behind is Lakes Financial Services after it defeated Edward Jones 36-8. Lakes Financial jumped four spots into the second position, 3.5 points behind Halverson Law.

Dutch's Duffers jumped into third place with a 23-21 victory over GL Sports.

Legacy women

Lottie Oehrlein and Angela Sandelin paired to win the blind partner best ball event Aug. 12 during the women's league at the Legacy Courses at Cragun's.

In second place on the Dutch Course was Rhonda Mareck-Elaine Klinger. Pam Jager-Sandy Baumann finished third and Theresa Proctor-Nadine Fraki placed fourth.

Oehrlein completed the sweep as she won closest to the pin and longest drive awards.

Heidi Brown and Karen Johnston shot 32 to win the event on the Par 3 Course.

Sue Miller-Audrey Wessman finished second and Bridget Walthers-Kathy Buxton were third.

Darlene Swedin sank the longest putt and Eileen Pettit was closest to the pin.

The Legacy women's scramble is scheduled for Aug. 26. Call the Legacy pro shop at 825-2789 to sign up your team.

Breezy Point men

Bodyworks' 6-6 tie with Mills Motor Aug. 14 helped it remain in the men's Twilight League lead at Breezy Point Resort, but the gap is shrinking.

That's because Thomas & Associates defeated McAllister Electric 7.5-4.5 to climb within one point of the leaders.

Dick Parks Gas suffered an 8-4 loss to fall into a tie for third place with Dockside, which topped Cedar Creek Lumber 6.5-5.5.

Breezy Point women

Linda Esser, Ellen Koshenina, Bonnie Person and Judy Thomas shot 53 to win the 1-2-3 event Aug. 14 during the Breezy Point Resort women's league on the Traditional Course.

Patty Carlyle, Verna Miller, Barb Owens and Jill Roeder placed second with a 56. Joi Brandt, Marcia Macomber, Sandy O'Day and Phyllis Struthers were third.

Thursday's event will be the 9-hole league tournament on the Whitebirch Course.

Whitefish women

Norma Pavek, Mary Moakley, Cheryl Stansfield and Donna Waataja teamed to win the Women of Whitefish tournament, a combination of the Whitefish 9-hole and 18-hole women's leagues, Aug. 12.

Pat Montgomery, Maxine Riches, Phyllis Evans and Judy Eastwood were second and Pat Radovich, Barb Holubar, Monica Fetters and Mary K. Erickson placed third.

Those three teams were awarded a gold, silver and bronze candy bar wrapped in a red, white and blue ribbon.

Fourth place went to Marguerite Baker, Barb DelaHunt, Sheila Speedling and Kathy Larson.

Anne Gazda, Betsy Schroeder, Harriet Smith and Carol Lovro were fifth. Lois Haglund, Gail Bancroft, Susan Finley and Susan Newsome finished sixth and Susan Walstrom, Janet Duitsman, Liz Barker and Joie Brandt placed seventh

Winning the low putts contest was the team of Marlene Anderson, Anita Stensby, Kathy Brodin and Jan Hupperts. Connie Foster, Marlys Guse and Kathy Kelling placed second and Sue Taylor, Myra Faust and Linda Carpenter were third.

Delores Rubald won the putting contest. Diane Giefer finished second and Stensby third.

Mary Moakley was closest to the pin in two. Smith was closest to the line. DelaHunt was closest to the pin and Susan Finley was closest to the certificate.

Barbie Swenson won a 9-hole league membership for next season while Finley won the 18-hole league membership.

Sharon Jacobson won the $50 gift certificate. Cheryl Bontrager, Riches and Radovich won the 50/50 raffle.

Also winning prizes were Carol Lovro, Marlene Anderson, Baker, Walstrom, Deanna Frandson, Montgomery and Nancy Einan.

Regular league play resumes Wednesday.
