Gizella Jorgensen, age 78, of Brainerd, died Tuesday, Aug. 17, 2004, at her home. A memorial open house will be Friday, Aug. 20, at 5-7 p.m. at Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel.
Gizella Rose Niedermayer was born July 24, 1926, in Chicago to Vincent and Catherine (Stemper) Niedermayer. She grew up and attended school in Chicago. She was united in marriage to Donald Jorgensen in Chicago on Jan. 12, 1946. The couple moved to southern Minnesota and then in 1957 to the lakes area where they raised their family. She was widowed in 1994. Gizella had been active in the Brainerd American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed gardening and fishing and loved her lake home.
Gizella is survived by her children, John (Donna) Jorgensen, of Fort Ripley, Kelly (Laural) Jorgensen, of Nisswa, and Walter (Gail) Jorgensen, of Carlton; two sisters, Vera Frees and Lillian Locke, both of Chicago; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Her parents, her husband, and a brother, Vincent, preceded her in death.
