Isanti County authorities were trying on Monday in Cambridge to determine if a skeleton found Sunday on a rural landowner's property belonged to any people who have been reported missing or whether they could be the final clue in a homicide case.
Isanti County Sheriff Mike Ammend said the fact that the body was buried in a remote area made the case suspicious. "The body was buried, so it wasn't just that someone wandered in here and died of exposure," he said.
He said the landowner found the bones while excavating dirt on his land along Highway 47 south of County Road 5.
The only thing certain at this point is that the bones belong to an adult.
