EMBARRASS -- Neil D. Ritari, 51, of Embarrass, formerly of Brainerd, died Thursday, Aug. 14, 2003, at his home.
Services will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Aurora. Visitation will be for one hour before the service. Burial with military honors by the Aurora-Hoyt Lakes Color Guard will be in the Embarrass Cemetery.
He was born Dec. 22, 1951, in Duluth to Irving and Ruth (Hall) Ritari. He lived in Brainerd and attended junior college. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam War, serving as quartermaster on the destroyer naval vessels. He married Marianne Phillips on July 19, 1997, in Duluth, and had worked as St. Louis County planner for 15 years. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans. He was an avid outdoorsman who especially enjoyed hunting and spending time at the cabin he built near Tower.
He is survived by his wife, Marianne; brother Daven Ritari of Britt; sister Ann (Doni) Hanson of Randall; father-in-law, William Phillips of Duluth; aunts Barbara Burn and Harriet Hall and their families; cousins Mike Bingham, Frank Bingham, Pat O'Brien and family, Ray Ritari and family and several other cousins; nephews, Leif (Jenny) Hanson and family and Eric Hanson.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
