Senior Citizens' Club
The Deerwood and Bay Lake Senior Citizens' Club will meet at noon Wednesday at the Deerwood Legion. Please bring your own eating utensils and a dish to share. Phyllis Flannigan, Paul Musil and Don and Lila Wheeler will host the meal.
BNSF Veterans will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Lum Park for their annual potluck picnic. Coffee, plates, utensils and chicken will be furnished. In case of rain, it will be at the VFW club.

Horticulturist Merv Eisel will present a program on "Peonies and other Fall Divisions" at 12:30 p.m. Thursday at the Nisswa Community Center. Coordinator is Burma Brekke. Class of 1941
There will be an organizational meeting at 5 p.m. Tuesday at the Sawmill Inn to plan for the 60th reunion. All classmates and spouses are urged to attend.
Nisswa Women of Today
The Nisswa Area Women of Today will be selling Department 56 Villages, Christmas villages and accesories that were donated for the Jodi Waidelich-Runberg benefit. The truckload sale will be from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Aug. 26 at the Breezy Point Community Center. The sale is being held to help Jodi Runberg and her family with medical expenses.
Florence Rebekah Lodge No. 111
The Florence Rebekah Lodge No. 111 of Brainerd recently visited the care center at Woodland Acres and presented stuffed animals to the activity directors to be given to the patients in the center. This was part of a community project the local Rebekah Lodge has taken a special interest in.
State fair bus trip
A bus trip to the state fair will be hosted by the Crow Wing County Council on Aging and Senior Advocates. The buses will leave at 6:45 a.m. Aug. 31 from the Franklin Jr. High parking lot and return at approximately 9:30 p.m. $15 reserves your seat on the bus and gate admission for 65 years and over. Seniors under 65, pay $7 at the gate or get your ticket at Holiday or Cub Foods in advance for $5. BHS Class of 1990 reunion
This is a reminder to all members of the class of 1990 from Brainerd High School. The reunion will be from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Sept. 2 at Lum Park. Potluck for families. Parish nurse preparation course
St. Joseph's Medical Center is sponsoring a parish nurse preparation course from 12:30-5 p.m. beginning Aug. 28. The course is designed to provide 32 contact hours.
