Jonathan "Reggie" Lee, Aitkin County Board chairman, pleaded guilty to gross misdemeanor DUI Monday in Aitkin County District Court.
Lee, 45, was arrested July 17 after an Aitkin County sheriff's deputy observed a pickup being driven erratically on Aitkin County Road 14.
According to court documents, the deputy could smell alcohol on Lee's breath, Lee's eyes were bloodshot and his speech was slurred. Lee admitted to having five drinks, the complaint said.
Lee failed several field sobriety tests and was arrested and transported to the Aitkin County Jail. At the jail a breath test was administered, revealing an alcohol concentration level of 0.21, the complaint said. The legal limit in Minnesota is 0.10.
Aitkin County Judge John Solien sentenced Lee to 60 days in jail, fined him $970 and placed him on six years probation, said Itasca County Attorney John J. Muhar, who was asked to prosecute the case by Aitkin County.
Conditions of Lee's probation were that he successfully complete a chemical dependency evaluation, successfully complete a Mothers Against Drunk Driving impact panel, that he not consume alcohol or go into a bar and that he be subject to spot checks for compliance.
Violation of his probation could result in one year in jail and/or a $3,000 fine.
Aitkin County Sheriff Dennis Landborg said Solien will allow Lee to begin serving his 60 days in Aitkin County Jail on Nov. 7.
Lee was elected to the Aitkin County Board in 2002.
