Local banker Marvin Campbell was named facilitator of the Brainerd Bypass Coalition at an organizational meeting at city hall. The coalition was organized by Brainerd Mayor Bob Olson and Baxter Mayor Don O'Brien.

Scott LeDoux of Crosby and veteran heavyweight Ken Norton went a few verbal rounds at a press conference in preparation for Sunday's bout at the Met Sports Arena in Bloomington. They say Norton doesn't back up. He'll back up this time, said LeDoux.

With 800 entries listed as of noon today the largest fair in the history of Crow Wing County was believed assured, according to Agnes Luepker, chief clerk. This is 200 entries more than the 1948 fair. The fair will also be the longest, now going five days.

Two brothers from Brainerd were arraigned in municipal court on charges of second-degree larceny, accused of stealing 700 pounds of No. 10 gauge copper wire from five miles of telephone line of the Pequot Rural Telephone Co.

Jim Boyle, well known here, is ill at Duluth, threatened with tuberculosis. It is probable he will go to Walker for treatment at the state sanitorium.
