McGREGOR -- Eugene W. Hadley, 77, McGregor, died Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2000, at Abbott-Northwestern Hospital of Minneapolis.
He was born Jan. 6, 1923, in Grand Forks, N.D., to George and Olive (Parker) Hadley. He attended schools in Minneapolis and graduated from Minneapolis Vocational High School. He served in the Army during World War II. After his discharge, he returned to the Twin Cities and married Maxine Wideen on Aug. 18, 1945, in St. Paul. They lived in the Edina area for many years. He worked for Kloster-Madsen Construction Co. as a carpenter and supervisor, retiring in 1985. He and his wife moved to Lake Minnewawa near McGregor in 1985 and had lived there since.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Clay Hadley, Brooklyn Park, and Tracy Hadley, Palisade; two daughters, Nannette Ashton, Jordan, and Peggyann Collins, Cambridge; 13 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a sister, Gertrude Herlofsky, Minneapolis.
A son, Tom, a brother and a sister died earlier.
Services will be 3 p.m. Saturday at McGregor Funeral Home with the Rev. Winfield Johnson officiating.
Friends may call from 2-3 p.m. Saturday at McGregor Funeral Home. Memorials are preferred to the American Cancer Society.
