Harold Kangas

BAXTER - Harold Ervin Kangas, 72, of Baxter, Minn., passed away at his home Aug. 14, 2008, with his family by his side.

Harold was born Oct. 24, 1935, in Menahga, Minn., to John and Aili (Samuelson) Kangas. Harold graduated from Sebeka High School in 1954. Harold owned and operated an automotive repair shop in Maple Grove, Minn., until he retired in 1997. In 2000, Harold and his wife, Bonnie, moved to Baxter, Minn. Harold loved spending time with family and friends. He and Bonnie also enjoyed dancing, traveling and having guests at their lake home.

Harold will be loving remembered by his wife of 52 years, Bonnie; daughter, Linda (Gary) Koesling, of Oakdale, Minn.; son, Greg (Kathy) Kangas, of Brainerd, Minn.; grandchildren, Rachel Markie, of Woodbury, Minn., Spencer and Isaac Kangas, of Brainerd, Minn., and Bryan, Brad and Brianna Kirkvold, of Brainerd, Minn.; brothers, Ken Kangas, of Plymouth, Minn., and Calvin Kangas, of Detroit Lakes, Minn.; and many nephews and nieces. Harold was preceded in death by his daughters, Verda, Renae and Mary; his parents, John and Aili Kangas; and his sister, Shirley.

A visitation will be held at the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter on Monday, Aug. 18, 2008, from 5-7 p.m. and one hour prior to the services at the church on Tuesday. Funeral services will be held at the First English Lutheran Church in Menahga, Minn., on Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2008 at 11 a.m. Pallbearers will be his grandchildren Rachel Markie, Spencer Kangas, Isaac Kangas, Bryan Kirkvold, Brad Kirkvold and Brianna Kirkvold. Interment will be in the Menahga Cemetery.

Memorials are preferred to the Good Samaritan Society Home Care and Hospice of Nisswa, Minn.
