Wayne E. DeVriendt

SAUK CENTRE -- Wayne E. DeVriendt, 57, Sauk Centre, died Sunday, Aug. 13, 2000, at St. Michael's Hospital, as the result of a motorcycle accident.

He was born Feb. 5, 1943, in Richmond, Calif., to Edward and Mabel (Nelson) DeVriendt. He moved with his family to Royalton and following school in Royalton he worked in construction. He married Betty Otremba on Jan. 9, 1965, at St. Michael's Church of Buckman. In 1970, he began farming in the Buckman area. In 1995, he moved to Sauk Centre to farm.

Survivors include his wife, Sauk Centre; two sons, Dale, Rice, and Dean, Royalton; a daughter, Denise Richter, Randall; four grandchildren; two brothers, Larry, Royalton, and LaVern Tverberg, Stacy; a sister, Diane Sufka, Royalton; a stepsister, Dorothy Berg, Lyle; and two stepbrothers, Vincent DeVriendt, Austin, and Ron DeVriendt, Twin Cities area.

His parents, and a brother, Glen Tverberg, died earlier.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Brenny Funeral Home of Royalton with the Rev. Loren Olson officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4-9 p.m. today and from 8:30 a.m. until the time of services Thursday at Brenny Funeral Home of Royalton.
