Voters in the Brainerd School District will go to the polls tomorrow to decide the fate of the District's one-mill discretionary levy. The bill, if approved, will raise $135,482 locally, matched by an additional $332,088 in state funds.

30 years ago (1970)

Council certification of an application for a Federal advance of $184,282 for planning renewal of Brainerd's Downtown Area was asked by the Brainerd Housing and Redevelopment Authority.

40 years ago (1960)

Bob Waxlax, former Brainerd High School and Junior College athlete, has been named head football coach at Glenwood Minn. High School.

60 years ago (1940)

Most of the troubles of life center on some little things as one neighborhood has found out where a bunch of kids starts playing at 6 in the morning and races their wagons up and down the cement paving, thus shutting off all slumber.

There is a wide difference between the price of hay and beer at Black Duck, the former serving at $87 per ton and the latter at five cents per glass.
