Every former Franklin Junior High student who ever sat on the hard wooden seats in that former Brainerd school auditorium owes a debt of gratitude to a group of "can-do," thespians.
Geritol Frolics, the group responsible for the popular musical productions of the same name, is also responsible for upholstering all 478 wooden seats, replacing the carpet, painting the bottom portion of the stage and adding a digital lighting system at the Franklin Arts Center.
Their generosity and hard work will provide their audience with more comfort and enhance the flourishing arts scene at Franklin Arts Center.
The group funneled money it had raised from its musicals to replace the vintage 1932 wooden seats.
In the finest "hey, let's put on a show!" tradition, the Geritol Frolics group didn't petition the school district to make the improvement. They used their own financial resources, skill and sweat to accomplish the project. All we can say about this particular performance is "bravo!"
