MALMO - The Malmo Evangelical Free Church will have an outdoor concert at 7 p.m. Aug. 16. Churchyard from Crosby will be in concert.

Outdoor corn roast

BAXTER - There will be an outdoor corn roast at 4 p.m. Aug. 24 at Heritage Assembly of God in Baxter.

Maple Hill Lutheran Church

PINE RIVER - Maple Hill Lutheran Church, rural Pine River, will hold an evening service at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, replacing the Sunday morning service.

VBS at Maple Hill

PINE RIVER - Maple Hill Lutheran Church, rural Pine River, will have vacation Bible school from 6:30-8:30 p.m. beginning Monday through Aug. 22. The theme for the week is the Son Harvest Country Fair. The children will present the program at the 9 a.m. worship on Aug. 24. After that service there will be a "farmers' market" with people encouraged to bring produce from their gardens where a freewill offering will be taken. Neighborhood picnic

BAXTER - The second annual Prince of Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church neighborhood picnic will be 6 p.m. Wednesday. There will be a picnic dinner, games and fellowship.

Pie and ice cream social

The Riverside Union Church's Ladies Christian Fellowship will have a pie and ice cream social from 5-8 p.m. Thursday. Baked goods, farm fresh vegetables and crafts will also be available for sale.

Churchyard to perform at Trinity

Churchyard, a bluegrass gospel band, will be a part of the worship service at 9 a.m. Sunday at Trinity Lutheran Church of Brainerd.

The group from Immanuel Lutheran Church in Crosby includes Wendy Smith, Dave Peterson, Denise Kalevik, Greg Kalevik, Jane Troge, Denny Henrichs and Brad Miller.

IHOP will the topic of the sermon by Pastor Hans Anderson. The service will include Holy Communion.

'Shabbots' celebrated every third Saturday at Baxter prayer garden

BAXTER - The prayer gardens in Baxter, at the home of the Rev. Phil and Mary Strzelecki, continue to be open this summer and Shabbots are conducted every third Saturday of the month. The Shabbots allow Christians to learn more about their Jewish roots.

The gardens are located at 14903 Franklin Drive in Baxter. Groups are always welcome but it's requested that group organizers call ahead at 828-6486.
