Ruzich finishes fifth

Jenna Ruzich, 16, of Baxter, skiing for the Nisswa NW Biathlon Club, participated in the North American Roller Ski Biathlon Championships at Jericho, Vt., last weekend.

On Saturday, in the 6km Sprint race, Ruzich, finished fifth in the Youth Women's class (ages 17-18) with five misses for 10 shots in 27:30.5.

On Sunday, in the 10 km Pursuit race, Ruzich again finished fifth with seven misses for 20 shots in a time of 48:26.

Wynn Roberts of Battle Lake, formerly of the Nisswa club and now a US National A team member, was second in the 10km men's competition Saturday with clean shooting and a time of 25:40. On Sunday in the 12.5km pursuit race he fell to 11th place with six penalties and a time 36:51. Roberts is vying for a position on the U.S. Olympic team.

More than 60 athletes competed.
