Another day, another failure to crack 90 degrees in Brainerd.
The temperature, as measured at an observation station at the Brainerd Lakes Regional Airport, topped out at 86 degrees Thursday. That's several degrees lower than previously forecasted highs of 89-94 degrees.
As the temperatures soared Thursday into the high 80s, fans found ways to keep cool at Brainerd International Raceway. The last time the thermometer at the airport read 90 degrees or above was when it hit 91 degrees on Sept. 6, 2007, almost two years ago.
There is a chance temperatures in Brainerd could hit or top 90 degrees this weekend, as the National Weather Service in Duluth's weekend forecast has highs of 88-93 degrees on Friday and 85-90 degrees on Saturday before dropping to highs of 73-78 degrees on Sunday.
There is a 30 percent chance of rain Friday night, a 40 percent chance of rain Saturday and a 50 percent chance of rain Saturday night through Sunday.
