Rotary announces board of directors

Brainerd Noon Rotary Club announced 2004-2005 board of directors.

Penny Nelsen of Edina Realty was elected president for the coming year. The theme for this year is "A Century of Service-A New Century of Success." Rotary will celebrate its 100-year anniversary in February.

Others elected to the board are Paula Persons, Mike Engler, Jill Carlson-Ferrie, Dan Hegsted, Linda Hanson, Fred Jarl, Joe Birmingham, Mike Sands, Theresa Goble, Nadine Gessner and past president Don Ryan.

Rotary meets noon Tuesdays at the Ramada Inn.

Dailey to manage J-Made Furniture showroom

NISSWA -- Varpu Dailey will manage the new J-Made Furniture showroom at the Northland Center in Nisswa.

She is a graduate of the College of St. Scholastica's Accelerated Degree Evening Program in Brainerd, with a bachelor's degree in management. She also is owner of J-Made Furniture along with husband Jay Dailey.

Roberts joins Central Lakes Medical Clinic

Dr. Shawn A. Roberts, general surgeon, joined the medical staff of Central Lakes Medical Clinic on Aug. 2.

Roberts graduated in 1998 from the University of Minnesota Medical School and recently completed a six-year general surgery residency at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis.

Roberts, a lifelong resident of the area, now lives in Deerwood. Roberts will offer a full general surgery practice and will operate both at Cuyuna Regional Medical Center in Crosby and Riverwood Healthcare Center in Aitkin.

SBDC seeking business counselors, trainers

The Central Lakes College Small Business Development Center is requesting proposals from qualified individuals and organizations to provide small business counseling and training to small business owners and prospective small business owners in central and east central Minnesota.

The SBDC is searching for experts in areas such as financial analysis, loan packaging, business plan development, marketing and information technology.

The Brainerd-based SBDC serves clients in the counties of Crow Wing, Cass, Wadena, Todd, Aitkin, Mille Lacs, Morrison, Kanabec, Isanti, Pine and Chisago.

The SBDC will maintain a list of qualified respondents through December 2005.

Provide a contact name, address, city, state, ZIP code along with a description of experience in delivering these types of services and proposed compensation.

Proposals must be submitted no later than Sept. 8 to Greg Bergman, Small Business Development Center, Central Lakes College, 501 W. College Drive, Brainerd, MN 56401.

Lampi joins campus as director

Shelli Lampi, daughter of a Nisswa couple, was hired as director of Presentation College Fairmont Campus, in Fairmont.

Lampi's educational background includes an associate's degree in dental hygiene, a bachelor's degree in open studies and a master's degree in health science with an emphasis in community health, all from Minnesota State University-Mankato.

She recently finished her doctoral studies at Capella University.

AWARDS

TEAM Industries inducted into hall of fame

TEAM Industries, a designer and manufacturer of power-train and drive-line solutions with offices in Baxter, was included in a group of inductees to the newly created Polaris Hall of Fame.

TEAM Industries began machining clutch components for Polaris in the late 1960s.
