20 years ago (1981)

A 40th Reunion was held by Brainerd Washington Class of 1941 at Madden's Inn. Class members were welcomed by Mrs. Jean LaFontaine (Lorraine Gaustad), class secretary and Glen Holum acted as master of ceremonies.

30 years ago (1971)

Brainerd old-timers and distinguished guest mingled in a happy blending with other local citizens and area visitors at the Centennial Recognition Dinner. Close to 300 people attended the dinner at the Elks Club.

40 years ago (1961)

Employment figures for the Brainerd area showed a gain in July of 2.5 percent to a new total of 5,009. A year ago at the same time, the figure was 4,957.

60 years ago (1941)

A suggestion that police investigate the double parking situation in Brainerd is being sent today to Chief of Police Thomas Templeton as a result of a meeting of chairmen of the Crow Wing County Safety Council last night.

80 years ago (1921)

Rumors were afloat today that the Northern Pacific Railway Company may establish a large steel rolling mill and furnaces in the city of Brainerd. This would give employment to as many men as are now at work in the railway shops.

100 years ago (1901)

George Murphy, Will Koop, Harry Koop and Fred S. Johns returned this morning from Dew Drop Inn where they had a very jolly time being the guests of the Misses Koop and party for a day or two.
