Beginning this fall, seventh-graders will join kindergartners and have to comply with the new Hepatitis B immunization requirement. This is a three-shot series and is given over a six-month span.
This new requirement is in addition to the MMR booster shot already required for seven-grade entrance. Students are required to have a total of two MMR immunizations after one year of age.
Students needing the vaccine for any of these shots may contact the Crow Wing County Health Department or a physician's office. If insurance is a problem, families may request a public vaccine at a reduced rate.
Parents should send their child's immunization information to the Brainerd School District nurses' office at Franklin Junior High. Call the school nurse at 855-6536 with any questions.
