20 years ago (1989)

Crow Wing County Fair officials were smiling, with Ed Fox, PR director, estimating they achieved record attendance. Birney Wilkins was honored Friday for his 50 years of service to the fair with a plaque.

30 years ago (1979)

Charges of a conspiracy in the city's police controversy surfaced again as Acting Police Chief Ken Bjerkness announced that he had asked the attorney general's office to investigate an alleged conspiracy that may involve the county attorney's office.

40 years ago (1969)

60 years ago (1949)

Based on the number of passengers per flight the Brainerd-Crow Wing County airport was given the third highest listing of the 16 stations in three states served by the Wisconsin Central Airlines. The average number of passengers was 3.9 per flight.

80 years ago (1929)

The recent rain, while it was a welcome one to the majority of people, was not welcomed by workers trying to tarvia the Merrifield road, State Aid Highway No. 3. With good weather the work will begin in two days.

100 years ago (1909)

Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Tanner drove down from Pequot last night with their little one, who had pushed a shelled peanut up its nostril. They found a physician to have it removed.
