Boy struck by vehicle still critical

ROBBINSDALE - Benjamin Castro, the 4-year-old boy severely injured after riding his bike into the oncoming path of a sport-utility vehicle Tuesday afternoon in Brainerd, remained in critical condition Wednesday at North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale.

The crash happened about 2:34 p.m. Tuesday about 100 yards down Russell Road off Riverside Drive, a narrow, dead-end road surrounded by homes tucked back into the trees. Castro, was riding a bicycle out of a driveway obscured by trees and a power pole when he was struck by a SUV driven by 67-year-old Jim Pryor. Both Castro and Pryor live on Russell Road.
