Edward Jones beats the leaders to become leaders

Edward Jones jumped into the men's league lead after defeating last week's leader Dutch's Duffers 28.5-15.5 Aug. 7 at the Legacy Courses at Cragun's.

Halverson Law moved into second after dispatching GL Sports 33.5-10.5. and Bremer Bank topped Lakewood Bank 28.5-11.5 to move into third.

Dutch's Duffers dropped into a tie for fourth.

Legacy women

Heidi Brown was on fire Aug. 5 as she captured the low score and low putts during the Legacy women's league on the Par 3 Course.

Brown shot a 38 with 18 of those coming from her putter. Lori Nistler was closest to the pin and Carol Dinndorf sank the longest putt.

Ashley Rothstein, Lottie Oehrlein and Robyn Hinson needed just 16 putts to get around the Dutch front nine of the championship league. Theresa Berg's 39 was the low round.

Oehrlein was closest to the pin and Dawn Wiebusch.

Breezy Point men

A 7.5-4.5 victory over Lions Aug. 7 helped Bodyworks maintain the lead in the Breezy Point Resort men's twilight league.

In second is Dick Parks Gas, which defeated McAllister Electric 8-4. Thomas & Associates dropped from second to third despite beating Dockside 6.5-5.5.

Breezy Point women

Judy Thomas, Jan Benson, Verna Miller and Sue Skinner shot even par to win the women's flight of the Rally for the Cure scramble Aug. 7 sponsored by the Breezy Point women's league at Whitebirch Golf Course.

Second place went to Shirley Johnson, Becky LaMere, Sue Marsolais and Kathy McTague. Third place went to Carolyn Schueller, Kay Breen, Joan Burnett and Sylvia Schmitt.

Don Waxberg, Don Samuelson, Dennis Martin and Mike Nelson captured the men's flight with a 9-under. Dave Thomas, Jerry Benson, Roger Miller and Mike Hake finished second.

Mixed flight winners were Todd and Tonya Person and Howie and Lois Person with a 10-under.

Ron and Sue Obeidzinski and Bruce and Kathy Buxton finished second. In third was John and Bonnie Person and Chuck and Sandy O'Day.

Judy Thomas, Verna Miller and Kathy McTague won the closest to the pin proximity and Bruce Buxton won the men's closest to the pin.

The team of Sue Ackerman, Mary Morgan, Jill Roeder and Kathy Zender won free golf lessons from Mark Johnson after achieving the highest score.

Thursday's event is 1-2-3 and will be played at the Traditional course.

Nine and wine

Lois Jensen, Gloria Thomas, Linda Gronholz and Marilyn Sobiech shot 45 to win the enhanced scramble event Aug. 5 during Grand View Lodge's Nine and Wine league on the Garden Course.

On the Woods Course of The Pines Barb Fisher, Marilyn Marcellus, Pat Krause and Maureen Warmuth shot 37 for the win.

Mary Hagleje, Marj Dahlager, MJ Black and Jennie Bunce tied with Sue Marsolais, Judith Moravec, Janine Zitzow and Cathy Seczko and the team of Cindy Clow, Donna Motzko and Liz Timothy for second.

There was a tie for third between the teams of Kari Dayton, Ellie Balsimo, Pam Jager, Joyce Sheplee and the team of Carrie Schoenwetter-Thompson, Barb Wenschlag, Candace Prigge and Jean Morgan.

The longest putt went to Barb Elmquist. Closest to the pin was struck by Liz Timothy.

Aug. 19 is the coed nine and wine at Deacon's Lodge.

Pine River Country Club

Nancy Schmidt, Donna Balzer and Arlene Gamache won the dice game during the Aug. 7 Pine River Country Club women's league.

Low putts went to Jean McMullen and Lila Kersey. Gamache had the only chip in.

On July 31 the team of Balzer, Gloria Taylor, Eileen Springer and Mary Jane Regan won the rainbow game. Kersey carded the low putts again.

The Pine River women's club championship begins Thursday and concludes Aug. 21.

Whitefish women

Barb Hanson's two-day 169 won the championship flight low gross during the Aug. 5-6 Whitefish women's 18-hole league championship. Low net for the championship flight went to Maxine Riches with a 146 followed by Janice DuBois.

Marlys Guse shot 190 for low gross of flight B. Barb Holubar shot a net 149 for the low net followed by Marguerite Baker.

In flight C the low gross went to Mary Ann Erickson with 210. Nancy Schmidt's 153 was low net. Mary Jean Herdey was the second low net.

Mary Boeder shot the low gross for flight D. Sharon Keister's 150 was the low net and Mary Lou Claypatch was second.

Regular league play will resume Aug. 20.

Cuyuna Country Club men

Ron Meyer and Gary Johnson tied for the low gross and Ron Gaslin won the low net during the Aug. 7 individual men's championship at Cuyuna Country Club in Deerwood.
