20 years ago (1985)

Brainerd edged North St. Paul 5-3 to win the consolation championship Sunday at the State VFW tournament. Cal Henningson was the winning pitcher.

30 years ago (1975)

For two weeks 120 Brainerd ninth graders were involved in one of the most intensive and innovative summer school programs in the state. The students were based at the Environmental Learning Center located in an isolated section of the Superior National Forest.

40 years ago (1965)

Employment in Brainerd stands at an all-time high. The employment during July increased to 5,351 to set the new record. Employment went up 65 from June to July and stands at 171 more than July of last year.

60 years ago (1945)

The Brainerd Lions Club has set in motion a Brainerd Lakes Region advertising campaign, which in the minds of all who have heard of the plan is to be one of the biggest things of its kind ever attempted in this section.
